Initiative on the mobility of NEETs and young workers

CSCS is currently working on the promotion of social inclusion and fight against poverty. The commitment of the center in this research line led to the elaboration of a project proposal on the mobility of NEETs and young workers through the strengthening of the Mediterranean VET (Vocational Education and Training) sector and job guidance services network.

The proposal named “MedMobility 2.0 – Scaling Up Youth Mobility for Employment Across the Mediterranean Sea” and submitted under the call of the ENI CBC-MED programme, stems from the need to create a system for anticipating training needs with respect to the concrete employment impacts at the Mediterranean level.

The Public-Private partnership involves 4 EU Countries: CSCS – Centro Studi “Cultura Sviluppo” (Italy), PACA Pôle emploi Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (France), IED Institute for Entrepreneurship Development (Greece) and Local Development Agency and Employment of the Cartagena City Council and Arco Latino (Spain), and 5 MP Countries: El Space (Tunisia), AASTMT research center (Egypt), NCRD National Center for Research and Development (Jordan), Partners for Sustainable Development (Palestine) and Lebanese Development Network (Lebanon).

The proposal boasts also the participation of a strong network of “associate partners” including  public authorities (among them the Jordan Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Labor – State of Palestine, Regional Public Service of Employment and Training of the Region of Murcia (SEF)”, Hellenic Republic Ministry of Education, Research & Religious Affairs Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Crete, “ARTI Agenzia Regionale Toscana per l’impiego, “Regional Public Service of Employment and Training of the Region of Murcia (SEF)”, “Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia delle province di Pistoia e Prato, Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale and South Hebron Chamber of Commerce), Universities (among them “Universitat Jaume I de Castellón”, “UNIVERSIDAD LOYOLA ANDALUCÍA”, Al-Balqa Applied University, Yarmouk University, Al Quds Open University), and training agencies, business association and reference networks such as Skillman.eu

The initiative intends to involve schools, employment centers and the business world to allow VET sector to promptly design training curricula capable of responding to the needs of other regions suffering from a lack of personnel in specific areas or sectors.

The project proposal is the development of another Medmobility project already funded under the Interreg Maritime 2014-2020, which involves the Tuscany Region, Aspal Sardegna and the Pôle emploi Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Within this initiative, CSCS will offer its services and experience in promoting and managing transnational mobility according to the italymobility model.
